The Braves sign R.A. Dickey to a 1 year deal.

John Coppolella, the General Manager (GM) of the Atlanta Braves, signed R.A. Dickey to a one year deal this morning at the G.M. meetings in Arizona. The deal has an option for 2018, pending a physical. Dickey is a veteran pitcher who joins the Braves and brings plenty of experience with him. He is 42 years old, and he is a great pitcher.  He helped the Toronto Blue Jays make it to the post season in 2016.

R.A. Dickey did spend the last 4 seasons in the American League as a member of the Blue Jays. Before heading up North to Canada, he was a dominating pitcher for the New York Mets. Dickey won the Cy Young award in 2012 with the Mets and had an ERA of 2.73. He also pitched  in 233.2 innings that year in New York. The Braves are looking for a veteran pitcher to join their starting pitching rotation and signing Dickey was a brilliant move by Coppolella. It is very true the pitching staff for any MLB team can never have enough pitching and having Dickey in the rotation is extremely exciting.

The 2 starting pitchers the Braves have added to their starting pitchers rotations is proof that the Braves are very serious about competing for the National League East title in 2017. The Braves finished very strong after the All Star Break in 2016. Brian Snitcker, the manager for the Braves, motivated the team and help energize the city of Atlanta. The Braves closed out Turner Field in the right way. There was enthusiasm for the Braves and they were playing every game giving 100% effort. Snitcker brought the love of baseball, energy,  and the commitment of playing hard every single game. The Braves players responded with smashing home runs, dominate pitching, and fielders diving after every ball hit towards them. It was nice to see the Braves giving their absolute best for every game. Freddie Freeman lead the way and the supporting players followed. Ender Inciatre, Dansby Sawnson, and Matt Kemp brought a lot of offense to the plate along with Freeman. The pitching rotation in Atlanta was good, and in the last 24 hours got a lot better. This is why baseball is exciting, even in the offseason. GO BRAVES!!!!!
