This morning while scrolling through Twitter, I saw a post about a player named Ronald Jose Acuna. The name sounded vaguely familiar. Acura is currently in the Braves farm system. For players wanting to stay in baseball shape, playing in the winter league is a fantastic thing to do. Ronald Acuna has shown time and time again he has the skills to be a major league baseball player. His playing baseball throughout the year will online solidify this.
Ronald Acuna is currently playing in the Australian Baseball League. He is putting up impressive numbers already with an average of .356, 13 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases. Keep in mind these are his states after only 2 weeks. Acuna is currently the number 6th prospect in the Braves farm system. He is only 18 years old, we will be turning 19 later this month on December 18th. He was signed by the Braves when he was 16. Acuna was born in La Guaira, Venezuela.
He is probably 2 years away from his major league debut in Atlanta. His speed makes him an excellent outfielder. Acuna will hopefully be in Rome or possibly even AAA Gwinnett in 2017 and 2018. The last time I got this excited about a Braves prospects was John Smoltz. Smoltz has thrown a no hitter in the minors that got me very excited back when I was 13 or 14. I’m not trying to suggest that Acuna will have the same career in Atlanta as Smoltz, but wouldn’t that be nice? Comparing pitchers to position players is difficult to do, but in the grand scheme of things does it matter? All players on the Braves roster will have one goal in common, another World Series trophy in Atlanta. Our future in baseball looks great in the Braves organization, we just need to hurry up and wait. GO BRAVES!!!!!
