Yesterday’s afternoon game was very exciting . The Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Bartolo Colon allowed an early homerun, but that turned out to be only a small footnote. The San Diego Padres are not enjoying their first visit to SunTrust Park, statistically anyway. The Padres are in a rebuilding or restructuring phase and Braves fans went through this agony last season. The Braves are not done with their rebuilding phase but on the bright side if the Braves win tonight, they will be a.500 ball team.
Not since the 2nd game of the year have the Braves been a .500 baseball team. Even though the season is still young if you put it in perspective, baseball fans are not the most patient sport’s fans. The Atlanta Braves fans are in that group and rightly so. The Braves are in a brand new ballpark and in this new age of up to the minute news, society at large want actions and results and they want them now. SunTrust Park looks amazing and beautiful, and more than likely at some point in 2017 a visit seems appropriate. The fans in Atlanta seem very happy with the stadium and the Braves. After tonight’s game the Braves will begin a new series with division foe the Washington Nationals.
Bartolo Colon is giving his new team exactly what they want. Dominating pitching and more importantly innings pitched. The Braves bullpen has stepped up their game and are closing out games with very few runs allowed. The Braves offense has been wonderful to. Ender Inciatre is on a hot streak and hit his team leading 4th homerun yesterday. Different players are getting key hits and the team is not relying on one or two players in the lineup. Nick Markakis has taken over the cleanup up role with magnificent results. The bottom of the lineup has been very productive with key hits from Brandon Phillips and Michael Flowers. Jace Peterson has been filling in at left field nicely but Matt Kemp will be welcomed back to the lineup for Tuesday. Before the Braves worry about the Nationals, they need to focus on tonight’s game with the Padres. I’m sure the Braves manager Brian Snitker is emphasizing this with his team. Let’s enjoy our team Braves fans, there’s nothing wrong with being optimistic. Let’s finish off the Padres tonight and worry about the Nationals on Tuesday. Let’s welcome Washington to our new home and show them the 2017 Braves are not to be taken lightly. GO BRAVES!!!!!
