It’s rough being a Braves fan. It seems as if I get the blame for a lot of the Braves not already clinching the National League East division. The Braves did show signs of their potential greatness, but after being swept by division rivals in Atlanta and Philadelphia hopefully the fan base in Atlanta isn’t already shrugging their shoulders and waiting for September and the Atlanta Falcons. The Braves are 6-12 but by next weekend we could be at.500 again. Help is on the way.
The starting pitching has been very good. Mike Foltynewicz didn’t look like a number 5 starter in his last pitching performance. He shut out a very good Philadelphia Phillies lineup. Unfortunately the Braves were unable to provide much offense. Dansby Swanson has moved from the number 2 hitter to batting lower in the lineup. Brian Snitker is wanting to take some of the pressure off his starting short stop. Brandon Phillips has been swinging a hot bat and he is a good set up man for Freddie Freeman, Matt Kemp, and Nick Markakis. Ender Inciatre leading off has already hit more homeruns than he all last season. Ryan Howard is slowly making his way to the lineup and he is the power bat the Braves bench desperately needs.
I’m not trying to say all is perfect in Atlanta. Far from it as the Braves begin a new series against the New York Mets tonight. Brian Snitker has been able to get his team together and motivate the team to come together. The Mets have an impressive starting pitching staff, but so do the Braves. Having a day off to regroup and focus is key. Everyone needs at least one day off from work. The Braves enjoyed theirs in the city that doesn’t sleep. Series sweeps are bad, but a win tonight will change the dynamic of the clubhouse. It’s only April y’all let’s not abandon ship. Enjoying a cup of coffee from StarBucks last night put things in perspective. Brian Snitker has done the same with the Braves. GO BRAVES!!!!!
