Kemp and Swanson shine in Toronto!

The Braves loves playing up North. At least it seems to be. The Atlanta Braves won their 2nd game in a row as they are climbing back to a .500 record. The team’s middle batters in their lineup continue to provide the offense for the Braves as the team has won 4 out of their last 5 games. The series with the Toronto Blue Jays will continue in Atlanta tonight.

Matt Kemp had a huge night yesterday at the plate and drove in 4 of the Braves 9 runs. Dansby Swanson had a good day as well. Swanson is doing his best to get his batting average over.200. Numbers mean very little to this sport’s writer. But for those who study statistics here’s 1 you might find interesting. Freddie Freeman is tied for the National League in homeruns with 14.

Jamie Garcia got a no decision last night, but he did retire the first 9 hitters he faced. All 5 of the Braves starters were quite impressive over the last 5 games. Mike Foltynewicz got the streak started and he looks to rally his team with his first home field win tonight at SunTrust Park in Atlanta. Unfortunately everything is not all cream and berries in Atlanta, Adonis Garcia was put on the 10 day Disabled List. Jace Peterson will get the majority of the starts at third base and the Braves will call up Johan Camargo from AAA Gwinnett today.

The Braves are are on the move up in the National League East. They are currently 15-21 overall and before the Washington Nationals distance themselves too far ahead in the division, they will also be coming to Atlanta for a weekend series with the Braves. The Braves hold the same win total as the New York Mets, but percentage wise the Mets have a better record than the Braves.

The Braves can make a huge splash in the National League East during their long home stance in Atlanta. But Braves manager Brian Snitker will continue to keep his Atlanta ball team in check and take games 1 at a time. Yes as a Braves fan, the weekend series with the Nationals will be exciting but before that series even begins, the Braves have 2 more games with a very talented Blue Jays team. Mike Foltynewicz will look to get his first win at home and if the Braves continue their red hot hitting ways, it will give the Braves pitchers enough help to win big games and games. GO BRAVES!!!!!
