It was an epic match up. Stephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals throwing against Jamie Garcia of the Atlanta Braves. If you only looked at the numbers on paper before yesterday’s game, this looked like a pitching battle and the smallest errors would decide the winner. Numbers rarely lie and the game was indeed a great pitching match up. The Nationals scored 3 times early in the game and that would be enough.
The crowd at SunTrust Park were hoping for a Braves sweep of the Nationals, instead they were treated to something almost as good. Being a baseball fan, it can be just as exciting watching a pitcher pitch his way in and out of jams than a battle of runs. Although the Braves managed a late inning rally as Braves short stop Dansby Swanson drove in 2 runs with a double in the 8th inning, the Braves were 1 run away from a tie game.
There was plenty of great fielding by the Nationals and the Braves. Both ball teams managers had to be excited to watch. Dusty Baker of the Nationals had a wider smile at the end of the game since his ball team won the final game. However Brian Snitker and his Braves ball club had no reasons to hang their heads. The Braves won the series with the Nationals and have been playing extremely well as of late. The Braves look to play the Pittsburg Pirates just as well tonight.
Mike Foltynewicz started the Braves recent success in Miami and he picked up his first win of the season against the Marlins. Tonight he will be pitching against Gerrit Cole in Atlanta. Once again on paper, this looks like another great pitching match. Matt Adams is looking to get his first hit as the Braves new 1st baseman as Freddie Freeman is on the disabled list. The heart of the Braves lineup looks to score plenty with Nick Markakis, Matt Kemp, and now Matt Adams. Foltynewicz looks to win his 3rd straight game. Let’s win another series starting tonight. GO BRAVES!!!!!
