Mike Foltynewicz must have been livid. After throwing 7 shut out innings and allowing only a few hits to the Cincinnati Reds lineup, Atlanta Braves closer Jim Johnson could not get the 3 final outs in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Reds tied the game at 2-2 and in the 10th inning the Reds were able to score the final run and win game 1 of the series. Arodys Vizcaino was able to pitch out of an 8th inning jam, but the Braves bullpen continued to allow a late inning blown game.
Adonis Garcia returned to the lineup from the disabled list and had a productive game at the plate. The Braves offensive lineup had a good game at the plate despite only scoring 2 runs. Matt Kemp continued to put up another great performance that is All Star worthy. It will be interesting to see if Matt Kemp will make it to the All Star game lineup. His numbers earn him a spot, and the only thing that might prevent him from going is the deep talent in the National League’s outfielders pool.
Dansby Swanson had a productive day at the plate. He got 2 hits including a homerun in the 6th inning. Swanson hit a shot down the left fielder line that managed to stay fair. It was only a solo shot, but it’s nice to see Swanson hitting the ball with power. The Braves will continue their series today with an afternoon game in Cincinnati. The first pitch is at 4:10pm and Braves pitcher R.A. Dickey will be on the mound. The Braves can can erase yesterday’s loss with a big win in this afternoon’s game. GO BRAVES!!!!!
