Brandon Phillips get another walk off hit and the Braves back to back wins in Atlanta.

Brandon Phillips has been well received in the Atlanta Braves organization and rightly so. Brandon Phillips hit the game winning run in Saturday afternoon’s game and to show that his skills at the plate were not some random fluke, Phillips had the game winning RBI on Sunday afternoon. It was a happy Father’s Day in the Braves organization and fans at yesterday’s game at SunTrust Park.

Mike Foltynewicz pitched a strong game yesterday afternoon and only allowed 2 earned runs to the Florida Marlins. Foltynewicz did not get any run support early on in the game and the Braves coaches made the decision to take Foltynewicz out after 5 and 1/3 innings. The Marlins had loaded the bases in the top of the 6th inning and Mike Foltynewicz had loss some of his ball control but kept his emotions in check. Foltynewicz is infamous for showing his emotions on the mound that a lot of major league pitchers tend to hide. Baseball is an emotional game and it can be entertaining to see professional baseball players throw up their arms and scream at themselves.

During yesterday’s game the Braves announcers Joe Simpson and Chip Carey interviewed injured 1st baseman Freddie Freeman. Freeman is still recovering from a wrist fracture suffered earlier this season. Freeman was all smiles as he spoke about his first Father’s Day with his wife Chelsea and his son Charlie. Freeman’s presence in the Braves dugout must be uplifting to his teammates and coaches. I’m sure Freeman is offering advice to Braves new 1st baseman Matt Adams. Earlier in the year Freeman offered advice to Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson that just switching brands of sunflower seeds will help Swanson get a key hit and RBI. The advice worked too.

The Braves won the series from the Marlins yesterday and before this series, the Braves traveled to Washington and won the series from the Nationals. The Braves are still enjoying playing in Atlanta and if the last 2 games have shown anything, it has been the Braves rally late in games. This is nail biting for a lot of fans, but at the same time it is exciting as well. The Braves welcome the San Francisco Giants to SunTrust Park tonight. If the Braves want to finish off the first half of the season before the All Star Break, winning games is key. The Braves are on a roll and what an exciting roll it is. GO BRAVES!!!!!
