Sean Newcomb gets his first major league win as the Braves win their 9th straight win over the Padres.

Sean Newcomb finally picked up his first major league win after 4 strong innings in the majors. Newcomb pitched over 6 strong scoreless innings last night and lowered his ERA to 1.48. The Atlanta Braves and the San Diego Padres opened up their series last night, and the Braves escaped with a 3-0 win. Both of these ball clubs are in the re-building phase.

The Braves scored 2 of their 3 runs on a Johan Camargo double in the 4th inning. Before Camargo drove in the runs Braves 1st baseman Matt Adams had a double of his own. Braves catcher Tyler Flowers followed with a single of his own. Later in the game the Braves picked up an insurance run when Ender Inciatre singled and with his speed on the base pads and some fielding errors came around to score a sacrifice fly ball.

There were some rumors among Braves fans about the Braves possibly trading right fielder Nick Markakis which would allow Johan Camargo to take over duties in right field. Yesterday the Braves front office released a statement that no Braves players would be traded in the 2017 season, although the statement may have been released to quiet the tone in the Braves organization. The Braves willing to adjust their lineup, like Freddie Freeman making the move to 3rd base for the rest of the 2017 to allow Matt Adams hot swinging bat in the everyday lineup.

Although the Braves are experiencing a lot of success over the last couple of weeks, they are still not a.500 team. Braves fans can be extremely impatient, and I speak from 1st hand experience. Braves manager Brian Snitker is getting updates on the young talent in the minor league system daily, and he has the go ahead of who is ready to make an impact and if there is a roster spot open. Sean Newcomb has been very impressive and this southpaw pitcher is making his c case to remain at the major league level. The Braves will go for their 10th consecutive win over the Padres tonight. Matt Kemp, a former Padres player, has a nice reaction from the Padres fans last night as he returned to face his former ball club in a Braves uniform. GO BRAVES!!!!!
