The Braves fall to the Padres, but the front office makes a huge move in the lineup.

The Atlanta Braves fall to the San Diego Padres last evening as the front office was busy making moves. Jamie Garcia troubles have continued in last night’s loss, and the Braves offense grew silent in the final game in the series. When the Braves General Manager John Coppolella and Braves manager Brian Snitker met with Bartolo Colon on Wednesday evening, Colon had to know what was coming. Bartolo Colon’s age has caught up with him, and the Braves designated Colon for assignment.

Braves left handed pitcher Rex Brothers was promoted from AAA Gwinnett to the Braves bullpen. Since Bartolo. Colon is on assignment, if any major league team wants to offer a trade or sign Colon they are free to do so. It will be interesting to see if any team wants to take a chance on Colon after his pitching arm is not what it once was. The Braves organization showed their fans that they are willing to make big decisions for the best of the team.  Dealing with Colon does not automatically make the Braves a better team, and as the Braves starting pitching lineup continues to evolve, finding the right players will be a challenge.

The Braves bats could not get going last night and the Braves opportunities were few and far between. Braves 1st baseman Matt Adams hit a foul ball off his foot last night and he was pulled from the lineup. Matt Adams says he hopes to be back in the lineup for tonight’s game against the Oakland Athletics. Braves injured first baseman Freddie Freeman was back in the batting catches yesterday and it was a good thing to see Freeman making contact with the ball. It is possible that Freddie Freeman can return to the Braves lineup as early as next Friday, but that is if things workout perfectly.

The Washington Nationals lost yesterday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, and if the Braves had won last night they would have gained some ground against their division rival. The Braves will travel up North in California and we start a weekend series in Oakland. Braves left hander Mike Foltynewicz and all his emotions will get the start tonight as the Braves look to bounce back from back to back loses. Hopefully the Braves lineup can start swinging a hot bat and provide Mike Foltynewicz an early lead tonight. It will be a fun series with the Athletics and the Braves can manage to regroup as a team. GO BRAVES!!!!!
