A new hero emerges in Atlanta as the Braves win the series against the Diamondbacks.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th inning l, Braves manager Brian Snitker called on his bench player Lane Adams to grab a bat. Lane Adams is known for his power and speed coming off the bench and he did not disappoint his teammates and fans at SunTrust Park. Adams hit a base clearing double to left field with a rocket shot, and would come around to score later in the evening off of Ender Inciatre’s double on the next at bat.

Lane Adams was called up to the majors earlier this season as the Braves were looking for a power bat and speed on the bases. The Atlanta Braves are going to have a problem soon that most major league ball teams wish they had, too many players for a limited amount of positions. Sean Rodriguez should be rejoining his team sometime next week after a shoulder injury had sidelined him before the beginning of the 2017 season. Matt Adams enjoyed a day off yesterday as Freddie Freeman returned to his normal position at 1st base. Freeman went hitless last night, however he made an acrobatic play late in the game to end the inning after a awkward throw from shortstop Dansby Swanson.

The Braves offense continues to roll at SunTrust Park. Braves 2nd baseman Brandon Phillips picked up 3 hits in the game including a homerun. Matt Kemp got a pair of hits as well as the Braves are picking up players who have an off night offensively. Mike Foltynewicz pitched a fine game although he did not pick up the win. Foltynewicz pitched 5.1 innings after a high pitch count. The Braves bullpen took over and although the Arizona Diamondbacks scored 5  total runs but the Braves built a comfortable lead. The Braves reliever Jose Ramirez was able to shut down the Diamondbacks in the 7th inning. The Braves will go for the series sweep in the afternoon game and will send pitcher Jamie Garcia to the mound.

The Braves have won their first series since the All Star break as they are only 1 win away from evening their win/loss total to .500. After today finale the Braves will welcome the World Series champions the Chicago Cubs for a series before the Braves head out West. Jamie Garcia looks to get back to his winning ways after struggling in his last several starts. Before the Braves are bombarded with statistics about how many games they need to win to clinch a wild card play off berth, the Braves can only focus on 1 game at a time. The goals for the Braves are to be a competitive team in the National League and here of late the Braves are just that. GO BRAVES!!!!!
