The Atlanta Braves finally returned to SunTrust Park after a short road trip, but unfortunately the Cincinnati Reds picked up the win last night. Matt Adams got the game started off right for the Braves when he crushed a homerun to right field in the 2nd inning, but the Braves were unable to pick up key RBIs when the opportunity presented itself. Starting pitcher R.A. Dickey was piting great early in the game until the 6th inning and the Reds scored 4 runs. Certainly arm fatigue played a roll and the Reds lineup was keyed in on his pitches.
The Braves did manage a late inning rally as has happened many times this season. Nick Markakis and Tyler Flowers picked up RBIs in the 8th inning but a Braves comeback was not in the cards last night. The fans in Atlanta welcomed their home team last night, but the Braves were unable to to finish the late inning rally and pick up the win. Left fielder Matt Kemp is looking to return to the lineup tonight and his return will be welcomed in Atlanta.
Braves manager Brian Snitker has done a lot of juggling with his lineup since Matt Kemp went on the disabled list. To make the situation worse the Braves lost their emerging shortstop Johan Camargo around the same time as well. The Braves brought back Dansby Swanson to Atlanta after sending him down on assignment to AAA Gwinnett. Swanson has been great for the Braves after his short stent in Gwinnett. Whenever Johan Camargo is ready to return to the Braves lineup, Snitker will have different options on how to play the Braves infield.
Tonight Julio Teheran will start the game in Atlanta. Teheran is coming off one of his most impressive pitching performance this season. Teheran pitched 6 strong innings in his last outing against the Colorado Rockies. Julio Teheran will be looking to have a repeat performance at SunTrust Park tonight and hopefully the Braves lineup will supply plenty of offense and runs. The Braves are capable of scoring many runs and hopefully Freddie Freeman can help lead the way to victory. The Braves are looking to even the series tonight and once Brian Snitker releases the Braves lineup later today, the Braves fans can get excited to welcome back Matt Kemp. GO BRAVES!!!!!
