The Braves win the 2nd game of the doubleheader and are on their way to the windy city.

The Atlanta Braves had a great Wednesday in Philadelphia indeed. Not only did the Braves finally win their first game over the Phillies in game 1 of the doubleheader, but Julio Teheran pitched an outstanding game in the second game to insure the Braves finished off their series in Philadelphia in style. With yesterday’s wins the Braves have won their first series since early August!

Julio Teheran pitched a wonderful game and he looked like the dominating pitcher of old. This was his 2nd great pitching performance which is a relief to Braves fans, coaches, and players. The Braves still have a month of baseball to play and at this point the Braves have nothing to lose since getting to the playoffs in 2017 is not going to happen. The young Braves talent continues to play well in the minor leagues and at the major league level as well.

The Braves had to call up catcher David Freitas from AAA Gwinnett because Tyler Flowers was placed on the disabled list with an injured left wrist. Freitas got his first hit and RBI in the majors yesterday in the 4th inning. David Freitas has spent a lot of his career in the minors but he made the most of his big league debuts but yesterday and Braves manager Brian Snitker could not of been more thrilled for him. Matt Kemp got the scoring started early in the 1st inning with he drove in the first run of the game.

Tonight in Chicago the Braves will start a 4 game series with the Cubs. Sean Newcomb will get his first start at Wrigley field tonight in Chicago and the Braves are interested in how well Newcomb can handle the Cubs who are playing great baseball right now and are looking to become World Series champions once again. The Braves can play the role of spoiler for the rest of the season. This 4 game series will be a great opportunity for the Braves as they can display their young talent on more of a national stage. GO BRAVES!!!!!
