Luiz Gohara gets his first major league win and Matt Kemp hits a grand slam in Washington!

Don’t look now major league baseball but the Atlanta Braves have won 4 straight games and are 7-3 over their last 10 games. The Braves offense was hitting the ball well against the Washington Nationals for the second straight game and the Braves pitchers have held the Nationals to two runs in the last two games. The Braves scored seven runs off one of the best pitchers in baseball Max Scherzer.

Luiz Gohara allowed only two runs  last night and picked up his first major league win. The fact that Gohara earned his first win over the reigning Cy Young winner Max Scherzer had to be a great confidence builder for the Braves rookie. As the Braves are winding up their 2017 season there is hope on the horizon as the Braves are only a game and a half back of taking over second place of the National League East.

The Braves offense put on a show last night that was capped off by Matt Kemp’s grand slam in the 7th inning. The Braves had a different lineup last night and gave their lead off hitter Ender Inciatre a well deserved night off. Ozzie Albies took over the role of lead off hitter and was 1 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. Dansby Swanson was hitting in the second spot in the lineup and drove in 2 runs last night. Lane Adams played center field last night and was 3 for 4 at the plate and hit his first major league triple.

This is the second straight series win for the Braves and the fact that both series were over division rivals makes it that much sweeter. The Braves will go for the series sweep tonight and will send Mike Foltynewicz to the mound. After tonight’s game the Braves will travel to New York to play another division rival the New York Mets. The Braves are starting to win again but for some reason it lacks the excitement of the Braves winning streak at the end of the 2016 season. Hopefully the Braves can sweep the series tonight and head to New York with a spring in their step. GO BRAVES!!!!!
