The Braves win the first game of their series with the Mets in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves are on a roll in the National League East. After coming off series wins against the Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals the Braves win their first game over the New York Mets at SunTrust Park. Sean Newcomb pitched his way out of trouble in the 5th inning and was able to pick up the win for his team.

Sean Newcomb is adding a new pitch to his fast ball and curve ball. He is adding an off speed pitch to keep the batters off guard at the plate. Sean Newcomb came up to the Braves starting pitching rotation earlier this season after Bartolo Colon was struggling on the mound for the Braves.  The Braves starting pitching rotation is still a work in progress but Sean Newcomb should have already earned his starting spot for the remainder of the year and beyond.

Unfortunately Matt Kemp had to be pulled from last night’s game with hamstring issues, the same injury that sent him to the disabled list earlier this season. Braves manager Brian Snitker is saying Matt Kemp is day to day with his recent injury. Lane Adams came into the game in the 5th inning and he drove in the go ahead run for the Braves when they loaded the bases in the bottom of the 5th inning. Arodys Vizcaino came into the 9th inning to secure the win for the Braves and pick up his 11th save of the season.

Tonight the Braves will send R.A. Dickey to the mound and will be looking to win their 3rd start series. The Braves will wrap up the series on Sunday when Julio Teheran looks to continue his streak of impressive starts. The Braves started Rio Ruiz at 3rd base last night as the Braves continue to look for a long term solution at that vital position. Dansby Swanson has won his starting position at shortstop back since his call up from AAA Gwinnett earlier this season. The Braves are starting to find answers to a lot of questions Braves fans have been asking as the Braves are starting to find their new identity going into the off season. GO BRAVES!!!!!
