The Nationals take game 1 in Atlanta as the Braves deal with late season injuries.

The Atlanta Braves are mathematically out of the 2017 play off picture in the National League. The Washington Nationals have already won the National League East and are looking to get home field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Los Angeles Dodgers currently have a 4 and a half game advantage over the Nationals. Max Scherzer of the Nationals pitched a great game in Atlanta last night as his team prepares for post season play.

The Braves sent their promising left handed pitcher Luiz Gohara to the mound last night at SunTrust Park and the team was hopeful that Gohara could win his 2nd consecutive game against the Nationals, but the Nationals lineup had other ideas. Gohara is a good pitcher in the Braves lineup and is one of the few southpaw pitchers that can throw his fast ball over 97 MPH as 1 of his weapons on the mound. Luiz Gohara pitched into the 7th inning last night and only allowed 4 earned runs last night then the Braves bullpen took over and shut down the Nationals offense.

The Braves lineup is dealing with late season injuries and last night was no different. The Braves lineup is already missing their left fielder Matt Kemp, and last night their starting center fielder Ender Inciatre had to leave the game with a sore thumb injury. Braves manager Brian Snitker says Ender Inciatre is day to day as he rests his sore thumb. Braves utility outfielder Lane Adams took over center field duties last night after the injury to Ender Inciatre. Kurt Suzuki drove in the first run for the Braves and short stop Dansby Swanson drove in the second run for the Braves last night. The Braves did not have much luck offensively against Max Scherzer last night and there was no late inning rally for the Braves last night.

Ender Inciatre is looking for his 200th hit this season and he is very close to his personal goal. Matt Kemp is dealing with his hamstring injury but he is also listed as day to day. Tonight the Braves will send Lucas Sims to the mound as they look to even up the series. Gio Gonzalez will start for the Nationals and Gonzalez does not have much luck against the Braves this season and the Braves are hoping that trend continues tonight. The Braves have not released their lineup for tonight’s game and it will be interesting to see who Brian Snitker plays tonight against the Nationals. The Braves are hoping to finish strong in the last few games of this 2017 season as the Braves are in a rebuilding process. GO BRAVES!!!!!
